FAQ

Questions people ask about TurboMail

Short answers about privacy, the AI, accounts, and pricing. Anything else, write to support@turbomail.ai.

Privacy

Does TurboMail send my email to OpenAI or any other AI company?

No, not by default. TurboMail runs its AI on your computer with a local model, so your email is processed on your device and never leaves it. Cloud AI is optional: if you add your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key, the requests you make in cloud mode go directly from your machine to that provider. TurboMail is never in the middle.

Can TurboMail read my email?

No. TurboMail is a desktop app, and your messages sync from your provider straight to your computer. We don't run a server that receives, stores, or can read your email.

What data does TurboMail collect?

The email address you use to download the beta, and anonymous usage counts from the app, such as the app version, operating system, and whether an install was active that day. Nothing that contains or identifies your mail. The privacy policy lists every signal.

Does TurboMail store my Gmail or Outlook password?

No. Gmail and Outlook connect through Google's and Microsoft's own sign-in pages, and TurboMail receives a token you can revoke at any time. IMAP credentials are stored encrypted on your device and never sent to us.

The AI

What AI model does TurboMail use?

On first run TurboMail downloads a fast 1 GB local model that handles search, summaries, ranking, and drafts. Larger local models are available if your hardware can run them, and you can switch to a cloud model with your own API key whenever you like. The app always shows which model is active.

Does the AI work offline?

Yes. Once the local model is downloaded, AI features on email already synced to your computer work without an internet connection. You need a connection to fetch new mail.

What can I ask the AI?

Plain-English questions across your whole inbox, like "what are my upcoming flights?" or "which invoices are unpaid?". Answers come with numbered sources that open the exact email. With one email open, it can summarize, draft a reply, pull out dates and to-dos, or explain it plainly.

Will the AI send email on its own?

No. Turbo Agents can draft replies for the kinds of email you answer the same way every time, but every draft waits for your review. Nothing is sent without your approval.

Accounts and platforms

Which email accounts does TurboMail support?

Gmail and Outlook through their own sign-in, plus any provider that supports IMAP and SMTP. You can connect several accounts and view them together or one at a time.

Which computers does TurboMail run on?

macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and 64-bit Windows. Plan for about 2 GB of disk space, including the AI model. There is no mobile or web version yet.

Pricing

Is TurboMail free?

Yes, TurboMail is free during the public beta. If you choose a cloud AI model, that provider bills you directly for your own API usage.

Is there a version for teams?

Yes. Because the AI runs on each machine, TurboMail suits teams that can't send client data to a vendor. See TurboMail for Enterprise.

Judge it by using it.

Free during beta, for macOS and Windows.
